About the course

Business interruption insurance extends far beyond a single coverage form. This course examines the three primary Business Interruption approaches used in Canadian commercial insurance—the Gross Earnings Form, the Profits Form, and specialized Business Interruption coverages including Extra Expense, Rental Value, and Contingent Business Interruption (CBI). Learners will understand when each form is appropriate, how losses are calculated, and the critical underwriting decisions that influence claim outcomes. Particular emphasis is placed on coinsurance, standing charges, ordinary payroll, indemnity periods, dependency exposures, and selecting the coverage that best reflects a client's operations. By the end of this course, brokers will be better equipped to recommend appropriate Business Interruption solutions, document key underwriting decisions, and protect clients from costly coverage gaps.
