About the course
Moving property from one location to another creates unique insurance exposures that are not addressed by standard commercial property policies. This course examines three essential forms of transit protection: Transportation Floaters for shippers, Motor Truck Cargo coverage for carriers, and Ocean Cargo insurance for domestic and international shipments. You'll learn how ownership of goods, carrier liability, Incoterms, Institute Cargo Clauses, policy limits, valuation methods, and transit documentation affect coverage. The course also explores common exclusions, cargo handling, temperature-sensitive freight, and the broker's role in identifying transit risks before a loss occurs. By the end of this course, you'll be able to recommend the appropriate transit coverage, distinguish between shipper and carrier responsibilities, and help clients avoid costly gaps while goods are on the move.
