About the course

A comprehensive commercial insurance program must protect more than physical property—it must also address the financial consequences of interrupted operations and the legal liability arising from business activities. This course examines three foundational areas: Commercial Property, Business Interruption, and Liability. You'll learn how building, stock, equipment, tenant improvements, and property of others are classified and insured under commercial property coverage. The course then explores how Business Interruption insurance responds when a covered property loss disrupts revenue, including restoration periods, continuing expenses, appropriate limits, mitigation obligations, and extended indemnity. Finally, you'll examine the legal foundations of liability, including negligence, duty of care, breach, causation, foreseeability, occupiers' liability, vicarious liability, and the insurer's duty to defend. By the end of this course, you'll be better equipped to identify a client's core commercial exposures and build insurance programs that protect physical assets, ongoing income, and legal liability.
