About the course
Cyber incidents can disrupt operations, expose sensitive information, and create significant financial and legal consequences for organizations of every size. This course examines three of the most important cyber exposures facing Canadian businesses: Data Compromise, Network Attack, and Ransomware. You'll learn the differences between privacy breaches and operational system failures, the first-party and third-party coverages available under cyber policies, and how ransomware can trigger business interruption, forensic investigations, legal expenses, notification costs, and reputational damage. The course also explores underwriting considerations, vendor dependencies, backup and recovery practices, multi-factor authentication, incident response planning, and the broker's role in helping clients strengthen cyber resilience before an attack occurs. By the end of this course, you'll be able to identify key cyber exposures, explain available insurance solutions, and guide clients in developing a more effective cyber risk management strategy.
