About the Course
A homeowners policy is much more than a dwelling limit. This course provides Canadian P&C brokers with a practical understanding of how property coverage is built, beginning with the Homeowners Basic Form and progressing through Coverage A, B, and C along with the valuable extensions built into today's homeowners policies. Participants will examine the strengths and limitations of named perils coverage, explore how the dwelling, detached structures, and personal property are insured, and identify common coverage gaps involving renovations, detached buildings, valuables, business property, and special limits. The course also reviews the practical value of built-in extensions, including freezer food, debris removal, fire department charges, lock replacement, by-law coverage, mass evacuation, tear-out costs, and other benefits that often determine the outcome of a claim. Designed for personal lines brokers, this course strengthens the ability to classify property correctly, explain policy limitations, identify opportunities for additional protection, and provide clients with confident, well-documented advice before a loss occurs.
