About the course

Emerging technologies are transforming both personal and commercial insurance, creating new underwriting challenges that extend well beyond traditional policy wording. This course examines three rapidly evolving exposures: autonomous automobiles, commercial drone operations, and lithium-ion battery risks. You'll learn how autonomous vehicle technology is reshaping liability by introducing sensor systems, automation levels, event data, software, and product liability considerations into the claims process. The course also explores the unique insurance requirements of commercial drone operations, including aviation liability, regulatory compliance, privacy concerns, professional liability, hull coverage, and contractual obligations. Finally, you'll examine the growing risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, including thermal runaway, fire severity, business interruption, liability exposures, specialized cleanup, charging and storage practices, and the importance of documentation for underwriting and subrogation. By the end of this course, you'll be better equipped to recognize emerging technology risks, identify gaps in traditional insurance policies, and recommend specialized coverage solutions that address the evolving needs of today's clients.
