About the course
Technology is changing the way Canadians live, work, and earn income—and insurance must evolve with it. This course examines three rapidly growing exposures: telematics, home-based businesses, and commercial drone operations. You'll learn how usage-based auto insurance uses real driving behaviour to influence premiums, the privacy and claims implications of telematics, and how brokers can explain discounts, surcharges, and consent requirements to clients. The course also explores the insurance challenges created when a business operates from a home, including property, liability, business interruption, commercial auto, cyber, and Errors & Omissions exposures that often fall outside a standard homeowners policy. Finally, you'll examine the unique risks associated with commercial drone operations, including aviation liability, regulatory compliance, privacy, professional liability, hull coverage, and contractual insurance requirements. By the end of this course, you'll be better equipped to identify emerging personal and commercial risks, recognize when standard policies no longer provide adequate protection, and recommend specialized insurance solutions that keep pace with today's technology-driven economy.
