About the course

A strong personal lines insurance program begins with understanding how automobile and homeowners policies work together to protect a client's assets. This course examines the foundations of personal auto insurance, homeowners property coverages, and Actual Cash Value (ACV) settlement principles to help brokers provide informed coverage recommendations before a loss occurs. You'll learn the four pillars of automobile insurance, provincial delivery systems, and the importance of adequate liability limits, while exploring how Coverages A, B, and C protect dwellings, detached structures, and personal property under a homeowners policy. The course also explains how Actual Cash Value is determined, why different valuation methods can produce different claim outcomes, and when replacement cost and bylaw coverage should be recommended. By the end of this course, you'll be better equipped to identify coverage gaps, explain property valuation and settlement options, and build comprehensive personal insurance programs that protect clients from both everyday losses and unexpected claim surprises.
