About the course

Protecting a client's personal property requires more than selecting the right policy—it requires understanding how coverage responds to different types of losses and occupancy risks. This course examines Personal Auto Physical Damage, the Homeowners Comprehensive Form, and Seasonal Home Insurance to provide brokers with a practical approach to protecting vehicles, primary residences, and seasonal properties. You'll learn how Collision, Comprehensive, All Perils, and Specified Perils coverages respond to damage to the insured vehicle, how deductibles and Actual Cash Value settlements affect claim outcomes, and why lender requirements often influence coverage decisions. The course also explores how the Homeowners Comprehensive Form provides broad all-risk protection while relying on exclusions to define coverage boundaries, including vacancy, water damage, freezing, mould, maintenance, and earth movement. Finally, you'll examine the unique underwriting challenges of seasonal homes, including prolonged vacancy, winterization, inspection requirements, remote locations, waterfront exposures, and rental use. By the end of this course, you'll be better equipped to identify property exposures, explain coverage limitations and exclusions, and recommend insurance solutions that protect clients from unexpected claim gaps across a wide range of personal property risks.
